Feeling murdery?
I know it is not officially spooky season, but here on the East Coast it is gray and dreary and sometimes you feel like murder! Here are some books recommended by our monthly book subscribers that have a little murder in their plot (maybe…no spoilers obviously!)
Infatuations by Javier Marias
Summary: Have you ever sat in a coffee shop and stared at people and made up stories about them? Well, Maria does this with a couple each day at her favorite coffee shop. Then one day the man is stabbed to death and Maria befriends his widow. And that is all I will tell you.
⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Review: “Fascinating murder love story exploring how our shifting narratives guide what we perceive as truth and our life choices.”
Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco
Summary: First in the series (though pretty sure you can read them out of order), this is about a seventeen year old girl who against her father’s wishes starts hanging in her uncle’s forensic lab and finda herself in the investigation of a serial killer.
⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Review: “I loved this book! I really enjoy young adult books, mysteries, and historical fiction. You hit all three in one book. Great job!”
The Girl Who Died by Ragnar Jonasson
Summary: Girl moves to a new city to become a teacher and try something new. Her new town is isolated and small with only a few dozen people. As winter descends, Una realizes something is not right.
⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Review: “Very compelling story and I love the setting. I have never read a book set in Iceland let alone keep me on my toes the way that it did. Very good read indeed!!!!”
